Attending to loss: A clinical guide to inhibited grieving for DBT therapist and helping clients process the pain and loss of their lives
Many clients in DBT have experienced tremendous amounts pain and loss during their lives. For most, grief is one of the hardest emotions to experience. Avoiding grief over time increases people’s sensitivity to cues of grief/sadness, exacerbates the intensity of the emotion when it is cued, which results in more efforts to escape the emotion, and negatively impacts people’s ability to experience other emotions (including joy and love). This webinar will review inhibited grieving, targeting it in session, and addressing the typical barriers that arise.
This training is for mental health professionals who provide DBT-informed treatment and seek to strengthen their ability to identify, conceptualize, and address inhibited grieving and grief-related avoidance in clinical practice.

DBT Through the Fourth Trimester: Adapting Skills for the Perinatal Population
You know how to teach DBT skills, but do you know the unique biosocial context of the perinatal period? In this training, you’ll learn how pregnancy and postpartum impact your clients, and how to adapt the skills you already teach for one of the highest-risk windows in a client’s life. We’ll cover the perinatal fundamentals you need, then build from there so you can be effective in helping parents create a live worth living.
This training is for mental health professionals who provide DBT-informed treatment and seek to enhance their ability to apply DBT skills within the unique biosocial context of pregnancy and postpartum, differentiate normative perinatal adjustment from clinical concerns, and identify when additional support or referral is warranted.

As a PMH-C credentialed perinatal mental health specialist, she’s passionate about helping fellow clinicians feel equally equipped to support their own clients through it.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this series, participants will be able to:- Apply the biosocial model to the context of the perinatal period, including its impact on emotion regulation and risk for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
