    🧵Stitch: Beyond Experiment 626—Breaking Free from Shame-Based Identity

    Level: Intermediate

    Explore how shame-based identity develops through attachment wounds, labels, and relational experiences that shape a person's sense of self. Using Lilo & Stitch as a clinical lens, this training offers practical strategies to help clients move beyond shame, cultivate self-compassion, and build a more authentic sense of belonging.

    Lisa Duez, LCSW, MPA is the founder and CEO of Turning Point Counseling & Consulting, a trauma-informed group practice serving Hampton Roads, Virginia. With more than 20 years of experience in mental health, she is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant, speaker, author, and educator specializing in trauma, attachment, resilience, leadership, and clinician well-being. Lisa is passionate about translating complex clinical concepts into engaging, practical learning experiences that help clinicians deepen their work and reconnect with the heart of healing.

    Learning Objectives:

    Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

    1. Differentiate between shame-based identity and guilt-based responses within clinical presentations.
    2. Analyze the role of attachment experiences, labels, and internalized narratives in the development of shame-based identity.
    3. Identify common indicators of shame-based identity in clients, including self-defining beliefs, relational patterns, and maladaptive coping strategies.
    4. Apply at least three clinical strategies to support clients in challenging shame narratives and developing a more integrated sense of self.

    🧜🏽‍♀️The "Part of Your World" Problem

    Level: Beginner

    Explore the intersection of neurodivergence, chronic illness, and medical gaslighting through the lens of Ariel. This training challenges clinicians to move beyond limiting assumptions and offers affirming, trauma-informed strategies that support authenticity, somatic accessibility, and compassionate care.

    Kanjana is a licensed psychotherapist, IAYT-certified Yoga Therapist, Reiki Master, and founder of Healing Hearts Wellness, where she leads a team of somatic therapists integrating evidence-based care with embodied and spiritually informed practices. Through her continuing education and retreat brand, Wanderhome Retreats, she creates immersive experiences that help therapists and wellness professionals reconnect with their own healing through nature, movement, art, ritual, breath, and energy work. Her retreats, workshops, and CE programs explore the physical, emotional, energetic, intuitive, and spiritual dimensions of healing, drawing on her research in yoga for mental health, leadership of the annual Body Compassion Project Retreat, and therapist retreats across the country. Known for her experiential and engaging teaching style, Kanjana invites participants to discover healing as both a science and an art—grounded, embodied, and transformative.

    Learning Objectives:

    By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

    1. Identify the unique challenges at the intersection of neurodivergence and complex chronic illness.
    2. Analyze the impact of medical gaslighting and the "Trauma-Only Trap" on the therapeutic alliance and client self-advocacy.
    3. Differentiate between clinical "compliance" and "somatic sovereignty" in the treatment of neurodivergent and chronically ill populations.
    4. Implement at least two neuro-affirming somatic interventions designed to support body sovereignty and sensory safety for chronically ill clients.
    5. Evaluate clinical environments for radical somatic accessibility and identify three specific modifications to reduce barriers for neurodivergent and chronically ill clients.

    👑 Becoming The Main Character

    Level: Beginner

    Discover how to strengthen professional confidence and reconnect with your identity as a clinician through the lens of becoming the main character in your own story. This training blends reflection with practical strategies to address imposter syndrome, burnout, and self-doubt while supporting values-driven, authentic clinical practice.

    Jessica Vickers is a licensed marriage & family therapist, and a certified perinatal mental health counselor, who has been practicing for fifteen years. She is trained in EMDR and other trauma-focused modalities. Jessica is also a mom, a Bravo aficionado, and a Disneyland magic key holder.

    Learning Objectives:

    By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

    1. Identify at least three internal or systemic factors that contribute to decreased confidence and imposter syndrome in therapists.
    2. Apply narrative and cognitive reframing techniques to shift from self-doubt to values-aligned professional confidence.
    3. Distinguish between healthy professional confidence and ethical boundary violations.
    4. Develop a personalized confidence-building plan that supports sustainability, competence, and ethical clinical practice.

    🎨Untangling Symbolic Expression: Using Creativity in Clinical Practice

    Level: Intermediate

    Explore how symbolism, metaphor, and creative expression can deepen emotional awareness and strengthen meaning-making in therapy through the lens of Rapunzel. This training offers creative, strengths-based interventions that support emotional regulation, self-reflection, and client engagement.

    Lindsey Jonin, LPC, LPAT, ATR-BC, ACS, is a multi-hyphenate mental health professional, entrepreneur, and creative speaker, who helps individuals and organizations prevent burnout, cultivate sustainable wellness, and reconnect with joy through creativity. Drawing from her background in counseling, art therapy, and artistic expression, Lindsey creates experiences that inspire reflection, connection, and personal growth. Her work is rooted in the belief that creativity is a vital resource for resilience, wellbeing, and living a more connected and meaningful life.

    Learning Objectives:

    By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

    1. Describe how symbolism and metaphor are used in counseling practice to support emotional expression and meaning-making when verbal processing is limited, as supported by research on metaphor in therapy.
    2. Explain how creative expression and art-making processes facilitate emotional access, embodied awareness, and externalization of internal experiences.
    3. Demonstrate at least one structured creative intervention for use in counseling sessions to support client engagement and reflection.
    4. Apply a brief experiential art-based intervention to explore how symbolic material can emerge within a strengths-based, clinically appropriate counseling framework.
